Why should I choose Okinawa as my
destination for a study abroad program?

Description: The ONLY program in Japan that combines language instruction, internship, & sightseeing all in one!!!

Normally this is a four week program BUT we can also custom tailor this program to individuals and groups (inquire for group rates) - from two weeks to one year. You can start studying, interning and sightseeing with us right away as our programs start every month. Please be aware that there are no Japanese classes on Japanese holidays and some internships will also have the day off.

Highlights: 1. Cost: MUCH cheaper than similar programs on the mainland of Japan! Our four week program costs between $2,500 to $3,000 (depending on program chosen). The below information is for our four week program.

 

2. Includes:
* Orientation packet and informational session
* Japanese language placement exam
* 60 hours of classroom language instruction
* Textbooks
* Housing (see below)
* Meals: lunch is provided Monday to Friday
* 4 cultural activities
* 2 sightseeing tours (Southern, Central, or Northern
Okinawa)
* Ground transportation (airport pick-up/drop-off, cultural activities, and field trips)
* The ONLY program that provides you with a mobile phone!!!  
* Personal assistance will be available 24 hours a day during the entire duration of the program
* A certificate of completion

 

3. Housing options: Basic shared housing or medium to high-end private housing

* Basic shared housing with a fully functional kitchen - a private room in a Japanese style apartment or youth hostel (depending on program chosen)

* For an additional $750 - $1,000 you can get medium to high-end private housing

 

4. Program options:
1. Language instruction only (see below for more information)
2. Language instruction & part-time internship (see below for more information)
3. Full-time internship only (see below for more information)

5. Schedule options: Language instruction is Monday to Friday but some internships may include weekends

 

Option 1: Language instruction only (morning and afternoon classes available)

09:30 - 10:15 1st period
10:25 - 11:10 2nd period
11:20 - 12:05 3rd period
12:15 - 13:00 4th period

14:00 - 14:45 1st period
14:55 - 15:40 2nd period
15:50 - 16:35 3rd period
16:45 – 17:30 4th period                                                                                                                

Option 2: Language instruction & part-time internship (class schedule depends on internship program)

09:30 - 10:15 1st period
10:25 - 11:10 2nd period

13:00 - 13:45 Lunch time
14:30 - Internship 

8:30 - 12:30 Internship

Part-time internship (usually four hours a day)
* Time & length of internship may vary according to your internship program – the number of hours per week are based upon your needs and desires.

Option 3: Full-time internship only (usually eight hours a day)
* Time & length of internship may vary according to your internship program – the number of hours per week are based upon your needs and desires.

All 3 program options include:
* 4 cultural activities (per month)
* 2 field trips (per month) - Southern, Central, or
Northern Okinawa


Cultural activities may include: a BBQ, bowling, calligraphy class, cultural exchanges with Okinawans, flower arrangement class, golf, karaoke, karate class, kimono class, Okinawa Dance/Dialect/Music class, playing sports/water sports, private parties, tea ceremony class, weekend night markets, etc.

Internship availabilities:
(1) Companies - Duty Free Galleria-Okinawa & I
Okinawa Company (a souvenir company)
(2) Education (Teaching Assistant at an elementary school, junior college, international school, or private language school – depends on availability)

(3) Food Service (Restaurant/Bar)
(4) Hotels (
ANA Intercontinental Manza Beach Resort, Kafuu Resort Fuchaku, Kanucha Resort, Kariyushi hotels, Laguna Garden, The Beach Tower Okinawa, Tokyo Dai-Ichi, YYY Club Ie Resort, etc.)

(5) Sports (Karate, Scuba diving shop & FC Ryukyu – professional soccer team)

(6) And more …

* All internships are unpaid.

 

6. Important notes:

* Okinawa is much cheaper (less crowded & much more relaxed) than mainland Japan and our

   program offers so much more!!!

* Okinawa is one of the most beautiful and safest places in the world!!!

* You need a basic knowledge of the Japanese language to take part in our program.
* We do not have any quotas. As long as you have a basic knowledge of Japanese, you will be accepted into our program. 
* You can join our program at the beginning of every month but you will join the language classes where they are - the class does not start from the beginning every month.
* There is a separate 10,000 yen deposit for a cleaning fee and your mobile phone. The deposit will be returned at the end of the program if your room is clean and the phone is returned in proper working order.
